Wilfrido Villacorta is a distinguished academic, manager and
international diplomat who, throughout his career, has used his  
professional skills to strive for equitable economic and social
development in the Asian region.

After graduating with a Ph.D. in Politics, major in International Law and
Relations, from the Catholic University of America, Dr. Villacorta  joined
the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization as a senior
specialist at the Centre for Educational  Innovation and Technology
(SEAMEO-INNOTECH Centre). He later was appointed as Secretary
General of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia
(ACUCA). He returned to De La Salle University where he held a number
of senior positions including: Dean of Liberal Arts,; Senior Vice-President
for External Operations, and President of the  Yuchengco Center, a
think tank on East Asian affairs.  From 2003 -2006, Dr. Villacorta was
ASEAN Deputy Secretary- General for Functional Cooperation.
Afterwards, he served as advisor to the President of the Asian Institute
of Management.

In addition to his current role as a Senior Associate with Link Asea, Dr.
Villacorta is a Commissioner of the UNESCO National Commission of the
Philippines and consultant to several Asian universities.

In August 2007, President Arroyo conferred the Presidential Medal of
Merit to Dr. Villacorta.
